The season of Lent reflects Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness for 40 days and all over the world people treat Lent as a time to focus on His journey to the cross. Many choose to give up certain pleasures so that they can embrace suffering and focus their hearts and minds.
This year we have chosen the theme of suffering to help us discover what the Bible says about this all-too-familiar human experience.
From Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday this journal will guide you through the following weekly themes:
- God is present in our pain
- Jesus has compassion for our suffering
- We can be honest in suffering
- God can use suffering for good
- Journeying together through suffering
- God is still good
- Holy Week: Jesus suffered
What's in the Lent Daily Journal?
- Six-and-a-half weeks of daily, double-page spreads with a short Bible passage to write out each day, plus space for your thanksgivings, reflections, and a prayerful response. At the end of each week there is a page for you to use to reflect on what you've read and written out that week.
- Prayer Pages: Inspired by our Power of Prayer Daily Journal, these extra pages at the start help you think about who and what you want to pray for over the season of Lent. At the end of the journal there are two pages for you to record the prayers that God has answered and note down the things you want to keep praying for.
Our hope is that by using this journal while you wait for Easter Day you will:
- discover for yourself the life-giving habit of writing out parts of the Bible
- be encouraged to pray for the people and situations on your heart
- fall more in love with God’s Word every day.
